Today we traveled along the southern Scenic route Invercargill to Te Anau which is the gateway to Fiordland and Milford Sound. Overnight the area had some snow which was quite a surprise as it is unusual for this time of year, a little cool but wonderful for the photographers in the group with many stops along the way.
Also stopping at the Clifden Suspension Bridge for a quick look.

Quiet day today in Invercargill with a trip out to the Bluff with views out to Stewart Island and up to the lookout which was very cold for those not rugged up.
Back into town for a look around and a restful afternoon. Some found the stumpary which was very interesting for the photograpers. Rained later that day with the promise of snow in some areas ahead us.

After an early breakfast at the Good Earth Cafe we then headed off from Dunedin to Invercargill passing Lake Waihola a popular venue for the locals having a picnic.
The historic town of Milton was next then Balclutha which had a distinctive arched concrete bridge where we had morning tea.
We also stopped at Purakaunui Falls and Mclean Falls where we had lunch at the Whistling Frog then on to Niagra Falls NZ.
A stop off to see a lighthouse along the Curio Bay was wonderfull as we were blessed to find some sea lions on the beach and along the foreshore in the long grass, what a surprise for us.
Overnight in Invercargill.

First full day in Dunedin is over. After breakfast at 9am we drove out to the Otago peninsular where our first stop was Larnach Castle. The day started very misty with low cloud which didn't lift entirely until late afternoon. We then went out to the Royal Albatross Centre before heading back in along the harbour to Dunedin. Dinner at the local pub which was a little noisy due to New Zealand playing Scotland Rugby League.
